Maugher Beach Lighthouse

Did you know that there is a moving lighthouse off of Point Pleasant Park?

The Maugher Beach lighthouse lies about 3 kilometers (2 miles) off of Point Pleasant Park, but appears closer to (or farther from) the park depending on weather conditions.

In 1828 the lighthouse was established at an existing tower on the beach.  In 1852 the lighthouse made history by being the first to be lit using the newly invented fuel called kerosene.
