Spring 2007 Tree Planting
New Trees for Point Pleasant Park
Halifax Regional Municipality is pleased to announce the arrival of 15,000 tree seedlings planted in Point Pleasant Park during the week of May 21st to May 25th, 2007. A tree planting event took take place on Tuesday, May 22nd at 11 a.m. The planting area for the event was off of Prince of Wales Drive, below Fort Ogilvie.
Nine species of trees were planted in four areas of the park: the area south of Fort Ogilvy bordered by Prince of Wales Drive and Sailors Memorial Way; the area between Heather Road and Sailors Memorial Way (behind the Sailors Memorial); the area north of Heather Road, east of the existing forest canopy; and the area south of Maple Road and west of Cambridge Drive. We ask the public to stay on roads and trails to avoid damaging the newly planted forest. We ask that dog owners keep their pets on the paths and trails to avoid trampling of the tree seedlings. ...2 |
