42,000 New Trees for Point Pleasant Park Halifax Regional Municipality is pleased to announce the addition of 42,000 new trees to Point Pleasant Park. Starting in late May, twelve species of Acadian forest trees will be planted in sixteen areas of the park. With the completion of this project over 70,000 trees will have been planted in Point Pleasant since 2007. Below are the types of trees and quantities to be planted. 6000 Black Ash (Fraxinus nigra) 1000 Cedar (Thuja occidentalis) 3000 Hemlock (Tsuga canadensis) 4000 Ironwood (Ostrya virginiana) 3000 Jack Pine (Pinus banksiana) 2000 Larch (Larix laricina) 3000 Red Pine (Pinus resinosa) 6000 Red Oak (Quercus rubra) 6000 Sugar Maple (Acer saccharum) 1000 White Ash (Fraxinus americana) 3000 White Pine (Pinus strobus) 4000 Yellow Birch (Betula alleghaniensis) |  |
We ask the public to stay on roads and trails to avoid damaging the newly planted forest. We also ask that dog owners keep their pets on the paths and trails to avoid trampling of the tree seedlings.
