 Volunteers in the Park:  A Community Approach

Point Pleasant Park is your park.  Over the past few years, as we've looked at the best ways of restoring the park, you've told us you want to be involved in its renewal-- through discussion, planning and learning.  But most of all, by lending a hand.

 

That's what the Volunteers In the Park (VIP) is all about-- community members actively involved in the physical recovery of the park. The VIP program offers a way for everyone who loves this park to give something back.

 

And, in return for donating a little time and effort, you'll learn something about park stewardship and how what you do will help Point Pleasant get back on its feet.

 

 

 

 

 

The VIP season will run on scheduled Saturdays, rain or shine, from late May until October.  All you need to do is put together a team of between 10 and 30 people who want to help and don't mind getting their hands dirty in the process.

 

HRM forestry and park staff will train all VIP teams and work alongside you for the duration, usually half-day sessions.  They'll also explain how what you're doing will help the forest and its ecosystem.

 

A VIP day is ideal for environmental and/or naturalist groups, as a service club project, a workplace team-building exercise, or simply a chance for friends and family to enjoy a day of work and learning in Point Pleasant Park.

 

At this early stage, we're not able to accommodate school groups or individuals, so we ask that all participants be 19 years of age or older.
