Walking in Point Pleasant Park

Walking in Point Pleasant Park  Walking in Point Pleasant Park, Spring 2007 (HRM)

"We enjoy watching the wildlife, the ships and yachts coming and going from the harbour and the Northwest Arm.  I especially enjoy the ever changing light over the water in the mornings.  It ranges from icy steam, through fog and rain to golden sunlight, and the sea itself is never the same twice."
A. West, Halifax

These Boots Were Made For Walking

Generations of citizens and visitors have strolled the roads and pathways of Point Pleasant Park-- and what a great place to show your pedestrian habits!

The park has a variety of woodland and seaside walks that will delight, relax, inspire, or challenge you.  You will be sharing the park with adults and children, park workers, dog walkers and their loyal canine companions, cyclists, runners, picnickers, artists, birders, urban wildlife, and Eddie the cranky red squirrel (don't worry, he's not cranky all the time).

Walking Tips

  • Paths in the park are surfaced in a variety of materials: fine & coarse gravels, wood chips, & compacted earth.  Appropriate footwear will make your visit more enjoyable.
  • Please be aware that weather conditions affect the roads, trails, and paths in the park.  You may encounter ruts, washouts, mud, and other hazards caused by rain and wind.
  • You may encounter cyclists, runners, and off leash dogs in the park.  Please be cautious on roads, trails, and paths.
  • Dress for the weather-- the park has lots of it!
  • Water bottles are recommended.
  • Washroom facilities are limited-- go before you go!
