Wall reconstruction 2008, Point Pleasant Park |
Pine Road Wall Reconstruction MAY 2011: PROJECT IS NOW COMPLETE! Pine Road has been re-opened to the public. Project Background: Starting in late fall 2010 and continuing into early 2011, the Pine Road wall will be reconstructed in Point Pleasant Park. Constructed in the 1800s, many of the roads and dry stone walls in Point Pleasant Park have stood the test of time. Age, and modern day uses have had an effect on some of the stone walls though; stone slabs have shifted and drainage features have become blocked. Following on the successful reconstruction of the Prince of Wales Road wall, the Pine Road wall is the next on the reconstruction list. During the course of the project work sites may be closed to the public at times. Heavy equipment may also be present during some phases of the work. We ask that park users take care and caution when passing by work areas. In the interest of safety, dog owners are asked to practice responsible pet ownership and ensure that dogs are leashed near work areas. This infrastructure renewal project has been made possible by the generous assistance of the Canada-Nova Scotia Infrastructure Program. |
